4 Daily Rituals For Beautiful, Nourished & Youthful Skin
When it comes to clear, glowing, youthful skin, I’ve seen too many people rely on the latest “trending” products to achieve the skin of their dreams.
Don’t be too worried if that sounds like you, most people have fallen for marketing gimmicks at one point or another, and it’s no surprise… they’re just so darn convincing!
But the outcome is always the same. Most products you see touted on the market these days are simply a prescription, not a long term solution. Sure, they may get rid of your skin issues for the moment, but what almost always happens is they reappear as soon as you stop using these chemical laced moisturizers, cleansers, you name it!
The thing is, gorgeous skin comes down to more than just one factor.
Usually your skin reflects what’s going on internally, so if you’re stressed out, unhappy or eating processed foods, then your skin is not going to look it’s best, no matter what fancy, expensive cream you slather it in.
In this article I’d like to touch on a few daily rituals, that will not only transform the state of your skin, they’ll transform the way you look at your skin care too.
Sip on warm water with lemon upon waking
Nothing beats warm water with lemon first thing in the morning, and it’s not just because lemons have a naturally fresh taste!
Water plays a major role in your digestion process, not to mention it rehydrates your cells preventing dehydration which can lead to dry, flaky skin. Lemon itself contains Vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant that is responsible for helping rid free radicals from your body, and keeping your cells healthy.
If you have to follow up with your caffeine fix after then we aren’t going to stop you, but make lemon water before a daily habit. Or better yet, try this mushroom coffee alternative!
Try some deep breathing
Deep breathing is a wonderful way to slow your heart rate by relaxing the nervous system, and it’s the perfect way to set the tone for a great day!
Deep breathing also helps to gently massage the lymphatic system, helping to boost healthy blood flow and aid in the elimination of toxins.
Aim for at least 10 deep breaths, in through your nose and out through your mouth. You might also find this free meditation app super helpful for any time of day!
Fill up on whole, nutrient dense foods
One thing I hear often is “If I eat healthy foods, they aren’t going to taste good” and I always smile, because this couldn’t be further from the truth!
Whole foods are the foods we’re meant to eat, not that artificial stuff at the grocery store, pumped full of sugar and chemicals. Processed foods drastically increase your risk of disease, chronic illnesses and even contribute to mental health disorders! Sugar, for example, has been linked to anxiety and depression.
Whole, real foods like leafy greens, veggies, fruits, fish, antibiotic and humanely raised meat, spices, herbs, nuts and seeds can be made into the most mouth watering dishes that will protect your health, boost your mood and your energy, and leave your skin glowing!
I really love incorporating anti-inflammatory foods into my diet, which are brimming in nutrients and help to reduce inflammation in my body and in my skin. However, if you’re really willing to commit to a healthy eating plan and are needing to address deeper skin issues then you should check out the Whole30 diet.
Use real ingredients on your skin
If you wouldn’t eat it, why put it on your skin?
Just as I watch what I choose to consume, I pay just as close attention to the ingredients listed on products I plan to use on my face. Even down to the type of water I drink and wash my face with, but more on this in a future blog post!
Did you know that over 50% of everything you apply to your skin will enter your bloodstream?
It also goes without saying also that synthetic ingredients not only put your health at risk, they provide no real long-term benefit to the skin.
This is why I use only the purest, all natural ingredients in my skin care products to infuse your skin with nutrients that sink down deep and address the root cause of the issue. Not expensive sounding ingredients, or just a random mash of ingredients either.
Fresh from the garden plants in my experience make the biggest difference and my process of herbal compounding and infusion is something I take very seriously and hope to pass my knowledge on to you, my readers, and customers.
At the end of the day, everything is connected, and if you start incorporating these four rituals into your holistic skin care regime, you’ll truly start to notice a difference.
